No One Else

The morning sun lifts away the curtain of the night,
slipping slowly over the hills below,
we watch the stars fade away.

I see the light of it, begin to glimmer in your face,
spreading across your cheek, igniting your eyes,
as it washes your hair in its golden light.

Life begins to awaken from its slumber,
through the night. Slowly stiring around us,
as we hold each other's hand.

Clouds caught in the wonder as they are
lovingly painted in silver and white,
each growing brighter in the light.

I look long into your eyes, into recesses
that no one else has seen,
and catch a look, so soft and tender.

Until I must finally look away, the depths
of it filling me, to a point too rich to hold
so long, when I know that you must go.
