Someday We'll Have Tomorrow

I held your hand for a long time,
not having many words to say.

If I had all the answers, I'd have gladly shared them with you,
to try to put away your fears, perhaps comfort you.

I felt the loss, like you did, but then again I didn't,
Something inside me, seemed to hold back the pain.

I think that something was you, and the warmth of your love,
that brought me such a comfort, and sheilded me from the pain.

Saying goodbye, it seemed so awkward, as it wasn't really goodbye,
it was more like 'till later, when we can be ourselves.

When is later, you ask, with just a look in your eyes,
perhaps tomorrow, perhaps next year, it was sometime, yet to be.

We'd always have tomorrow, as we will always have yesterday,
today will come and go, but the others would be there.

For that, I was warmed inside, spared the pain I had expected,
when I knew you'd finally have to tell me, it couldn't be today.

Don't forget yesterday, and someday we'll have tomorrow,
and know in your heart that today will come to pass.
